Before he moved into a bed for 15 years-old son in my bed, I have concrete blocks - two high and two feet wide - in the four corners and center of the bed.
U.S. Concrete blocks often measure 8 "x 8" x 16 ", so that his bed was 16" above the ground. And incredibly durable, too! :-)
You can decorate the blocks with paint, sequins, stick-ons, or even if the material is stone-gray color is not your style, face, or w / glass bricks (put white Christmas lights on glass stones for a single night lighting), to 'make em more attractive .
